Coffee Filter Creations

I wanted to hang something textural on our hall in order to get rid of the "whitebox" look.
I thought..."cupcake liners."
Then I saw coffee filters.
THEN I saw natural colored coffee filters.
The possabilities were suddenly endless!
I will most definitely be making other things with these wonderful crinkled papers.
Not to mention that coffee is amazing...
and somewhat the theme of our hall's decorations
with literature and music thrown in there.

For the creation of these puffs, simply read on.

materials needed for one puff
about 40 natural colored large coffee filters
(dying white ones would be fun too)
needle
thread
about ten minutes
(depending on how fast you can fold the filters)

Take one filter
fold it in half
then in half again
and then again.
Be sure to only fold the middle circle
so you don't disrupt the wavy edges.

Once you've folded the filter,
thread the very edge of it onto your thread.
Pull enough through to hang it with.

As you fold each filter,
continue to string them onto your thread.

Once you have all forty on your string,
tie a simple knot and pull it as tight as you can.
Add another knot to make a double knot
while keeping pressure on the first knot.
This will give you a nice round shape.

Cut thread.
Hang!
Ta-dah.

What a great idea! And your hall is really looking great. It didn't take long, did it, for the girls to make it an exciting place to live.
