finals care package

My mother is brilliant! The care packages she sends are full of thoughtful details. If you're stuck in the quandary of figuring out what to send someone or are being asked by people what would be helpful, here are some ideas.

Seasonal tidbits. For winter finals, it's such a joy to open up the box and find beautiful candy canes, or a turkey cookie with a crazy eyeball.

Fruit is also wonderful, especially up here on Lookout Mountain where it's hard to get good, fresh fruit.

Drinks. Study sessions are always improved by mugs of hot things to sip. It could be hot coco mix, hot cider mix, tea, perhaps coffee beans. Make sure the mixes call for just hot water. Milk can be a bother to procure.

Things that smell like home. This is huge, especially as the Christmas holidays are coming and the last weeks of school drag themselves out. Because of my beautiful Washington State home, mom sent me branches off of various evergreen trees in our backyard and a little bundle of cinnamon sticks.

Things that are from home. The fir branches play double duty here.

Paper details. As soon as a tag or card is in the package, it becomes a gift instead of a box of items.
