All you need to make a sailboat is a basic knowledge of sturdy knots, a rope (of some length), a sail (a poncho sail with hammock spinnacer works well), a few sticks (one mast length), two canoes, and at least two people. As to see whether it works, you'll need some wind. Sadly, this was lacking in our time slot so we never got to really see whether it worked well or not. Worst case scenario you're out on a very stable base in a sailboat.
Don't forget to take a writing impliment to class.
Keep track of your water bottle. It's a good idea to not lose it for three days, find it, then lose it again the next time you use it.
