Tips For Tim

If someone looks a little upset, or quieter than usual, ask them what's going on rather than the usual "are you okay?" It's so easy for them to reply "good" and move on in loneliness otherwise.

Often you can't see your hand in front of your face much less the next step God is leading you to take. Sometimes you just have to step out in the dark. He's there. He'll catch you.

LEARN TO DANCE! Seriously. I've told you this one how many times now? But it's just as true as it was last time!

If you need or get to watch a movie for a class, don't watch it by yourself. Actually...never watch TV or movies by yourself. There will ALWAYS be someone you can watch it with. Exclusion to community.

It is a VERY good idea to get off campus at least once every two weeks. Every week is better. Church doesn't count.

Sometimes you just know something. That is alright.

Search out people who have been through some of the same struggles that you have. Being able to talk with soemone and not start at square one is so very valuable and healthy.

Make note cards! They're fun and you can organize them. :)

When making note cards, cut 3x5s in half, especially when working with vocab. Very rarely do you need the whole card and then you have twice as many cards as you did before. Besides...it's way easier to store a stack of halves in your drawer than it is to store as many wholes.

Top Ramen. Have an emergency stash. Either that, or know where someone else's emergency stash is. It's a very good idea to ask first though.

Rubber bands are super handy to have around. Also, rubber balls are just fun.

Hang stuff on your walls. I've recently seen some of the guy's rooms in my building and they look so depressingly dorm-like. Just because your room is comfortable does NOT make you effeminate in a bad way.

Never text someone when you could call them.

Always keep a working shopping list by/in your desk. That way, when someone says "hey...you need a ride?" you can say "yes!" and all you need to do is snag your list. It also cuts down on the times you return to campus and then smack yourself on the head for forgetting that one thing.

Most often, God teaches through trials.

If you ask God to teach you something, don't be surprised when He actually does.

And...the reason Tips for Tim have been so sparatic...

It takes a lot of time to heal. Be patient (unlike me).
