The previous pictures of my work with theatre makeup were not very good with showing what I'm actually doing. So! Here is a post on the finer details of aging.
In this picture (hich you saw earlier), I'm putting down the basic shadows which are then blended into the foundation. These I blend with a sponge. Notice especially the lines coming down from the cheek bone shadow. These give the cheek a sallow, sunken look. The more defined these lines are, the more sunken the cheek will look.
After that layer is put on, finer lines are added. The more you put on, the older your actor will look. Wrinkles show up on the edge of the eyes first, then around the mouth excentuating the smile lines. The forehead comes next and then the chin and jawline. These lines must be applied as thinly as possible. I then barely blend them in with my finger so they're still distinct.
This picture better shows the makeup around her eyes.
So stage makeup. A very important life skill. If any of you need to look old for a day, just let me know.
