Water everywhere.
A little culture all its won where the most valuable asset is the hose and the goal of life is to control it.
Ten kids rotate in and out of the coenr of the lawn.
Muddy.
Mushy.
Covered with drowning grass.
Arms and legs are flying everywhere and the smaller kids are slowly fitlered out to the edge of the mob.
It's a black hole.
Dangerous.
A sprained ankle.
Every call, shout, or cry is read by my mind
analyzed in quick succession
The tiniest hint of distress and my body,
without intention,
is immediately ready to be up
my eyes are searching out the face that matches the sounds.
His yell of pain started so small
suddenly I was on the ground,
his back against my stomach,
his shoulders next to mine,
and his head in the crick of my elbow.
It was one of the few moments in my life
when I knew that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
